New York has “Little Italy”, San Francisco has North Beach, a flavorful neighborhood that has been home to Italian immigrants since the 1850’s.

This historic neighborhood built around Washington Square, has been the home of many of San Francisco's legendary figures. From the beat poets Jack Kerouac and Lawrence Ferlinghetti (who can still be found wandering the aisles of his famous bookstore) to Baseball legend Joe DiMaggio who grew up here and married his first wife at the local St. Peter and Paul Cathedral.

North Beach has something for everyone, from the first cafe to serve espresso on the West Coast to the oldest bar in San Francisco, from the entertainment houses that used to be part of the Barbary Coast to family style restaurants that have been serving the locals for over 50 years. You can find fancy places for a romantic dinner and the best slice of pizza you have ever had.
